[酒鬼誌] La Chouffe

呼...又好久沒寫了..
其實是因為紅酒喝多了...比利時啤酒的量就限縮在幾款愛喝的而已
顯而易見的是, 如果我不是去台北的cafe odeon 或是芝加哥的hoapleaf的話
要我只喝一杯或一瓶的話, 我幾乎都是從golden ale 下手
說不愛dark ale 也不是...因為我也很愛Guinness Mc Chouffe及其它不及備載的~
也許因為覺得如果遇上與人分享的機會, golden ale 的接受度會高一些吧

La Chouffe 是一支很順口卻也很出色的gold ale
倒出來的時候就會一陣酵母的香氣緩緩地隨著泡沫飄散開來
喝的時候除了清爽的柳橙味之外, 就是非常複雜的spicy口感,
些許辛口加上一點點焦糖hint的麥香, 最後則是偏dry的finish

放了快一年, 一直等到有心情想寫了才把那瓶開來喝了~~
不過這種在瓶內發酵的酒, 放久一點也會多一些成熟風味吧:)

不過呢我是去了個完全不算觀光勝地的匹茲堡..
當然最主要的目的是去朝聖
去那迷死人的普普藝術大師Andy Warhol的博物館沾染一下文藝氣息
話說那兒的市區還真不大...二天剛好可以用腳走完
還有順便去呼吸一下匹茲堡大學+卡內基大學那裡的布爾喬亞味...
果然...好學校的校園生活和咱家uic差很多...

[酒鬼誌] La Moneuse

難得過年進了新貨...
就來稍微update一下囉

這是我第一次喝到的saison, farmhouse ale
saison 是法文季節的意思, 古早時這啤酒都是農家們在秋冬時節釀成
然後等到來年的晚夏收成時節當做農活時的主要補充水份的飲料 :)

saison 最特別的地方在於其發酵過程近似紅酒,都是在約莫華氏90度
的溫度下進行,因此其香味又獨具風格,口感也很平衡

La Moneuse 的泡沫並不會非常厚,
讓我在倒的時候就不用太擔心溢出而浪費的問題
聞起來就有清清的柑橘和甜桃的味道
初飲時的口感倒不是濃郁的麥香, 而是很平衡的果香加上啤酒花的spicy
加上酵母及麥芽的earthy 味, 再加上留在嘴裡的dryness 餘韻

我雖然還是鍾情tripel的突出又獨特的果香,
但是這種什麼口感均集一飲而不失平衡的酒

還蠻適合自在地邊閱讀邊獨飲的
或是二個人靜靜地共飲,
plus 偶而四目交會並露出一抹默契的微笑.....

當然也是經年累月的累積

話說12月上旬..
四肢就不太聽良心的使喚
一不小心就把車開到了Sam's的停車場
然後就這麼"又"走進了芝加哥最大的酒店
對..沒錯..
最大的"酒精"批發零售店....

結果當然是不出所料的大失血....
不能怪罪自己的理由是
每到年底那些比利時啤酒都會出gift pack
最大的賣點當然就在專用杯上,
於是乎...
拿得一點都不手軟
付得一點都不心疼
唯一就是在找地方放杯子的時候
會想半秒鐘說真是夠了
然後就會很滿意地看著杯子摸著肚子
滿足地離開杯櫥回房間去

趁這次機會的戰利品之一就是

喝完他們家的啤酒後
只覺得..well..ok...
並不是非常吸引我
沒有一點是非常驚艷的
但這其實也是一種很好的平衡
尤其是他們家的啤酒,口感很rich
四支的麥味和果香的mix各有不同
但啤酒花的苦味卻都很明顯
也許正因如此,重口味之餘卻很順口
有趣的是他們家的果香味很難說個精準
很難說是莓類,桃類或杏類...
非常地mix & rich,
連他們自己家網頁上的介紹也只是fruity一字帶過
(哇咧誰不會這樣寫啊)

我最喜歡的是priotr 8
blackberry的果香味比較突出,
啤酒花的苦感從前段帶到果香
然後是適中的麥香的餘韻
非常好的整體感

第二喜歡的是abt 12
10%的高酒精濃度伴隨的當然是濃郁的口感
這隻的焦糖和banana口感比較明顯....
啤酒花的spicy加上濃厚的大麥香..
苦甜之間的平衡會讓人暫時忘了10%的重

pater 6
這支的焦味會再重一點
然後比較多earthy flavor
也稍微dry一點
從氣味到餘韻都是麥香比果香明顯...

tripel則是出乎我意料之外的dry and spicy
之所以最後一名的理由是
我並不喜歡那bitterness finish的感覺
總覺得餘韻該有更複雜的麥香或果香才更令人回味
但是持平來說...的確是很impressed的口感
人生不也是這樣嗎
有時候正是那些bitterness會讓人回味再三

what happened in 2006

開學開學~
一定要在開學症候群發作前
把它寫一下..
ouch~ 總是要再寫個新年新希望嘛


話說從春季末到暑假再到秋天
也實在很像click裡的fast forward

先是在學期末got myself a RA
然後六月初從台灣回來後還變成四倍速summer了
先是交了宿舍的prepaidment沒二天
Kathy就在我們的casual talk時變成了我的房東^_^
landlord + boss = very cheap rent and a very cool and cozy life.

去學校退約,找可以銜接空檔的temp sublease,
打包,準備我要教的stats lecture,上課,搬家
再打包,再搬家, 中間還接幾次機,
哦..對了...還有在準備preliminary exam,
全部都是被deadline追著跑啊

不過比較有趣的是,今年終於享受的chicago 的summer
volleyball at the lake shore beach,
biking around the city,
taste of chicago and lots of etc.
然後一開學就給它考個四天,
一眨眼結果下來又make up完了已經是11月的事了
同時那個RA沒做幾天就發現身陷可怕的泥淖裡
等到我理出個頭緒修復回整個dataset也已經是12月的事了
而且慘的是由於這樣也清掉了無能的"同胞",ra也只剩我一個人撐了
也不知道會是好還不好啦,
反正我搞不好會ot到整個月不用工作也可領薪水

只知道這種四倍速的日子可能過不久了
馬上得八倍速才行...
不然我是怎樣能跟其它老師唸自己想唸的
然後想論文方向啊~_~
